Douglas M. Pine (1969-2017)

Douglas M. Pine dedicated his practice to representing the needs of adoptive families.
Mr. Pine testified before the
New Jersey State Legislature Assembly Judiciary Committee. He was a regular speaker for New Jersey
Foster and Adoptive Family Services, was President of the Board of
Hudson County CASA and was a Trustee on the Board of
CASA of New Jersey, was a panelist at the 13th Annual Harvest of Hope Adoption Symposium,
he spoke before foster parents at
Children's Aid and Family Services, Inc. and was a volunteer attorney for the
Essex County Section of the National Council of Jewish Women.
Mr. Pine joined forces with Lauri R. Steinberg and together they founded
Pine & Steinberg, LLC. Pine & Steinberg, LLC handles all types
of adoptions including
co-parent adoptions,
step-parent adoptions,
New Jersey foster care adoptions,
New York foster care adoptions,
re-adoptions of children adopted outside of the United States and adult adoptions. Their clients include married couples, single men
and women, and
same-sex couples .
Mr. Pine earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey and a Juris Doctorate from
Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City.
Lauri R. Steinberg, Esq.
Lauri R. Steinberg, Esq. practices exclusively in the area of family law
and adoption. She was the Law Clerk for the Honorable Robert W. Page,
Superior Court of Camden County, Chancery Division, Family Part from September
1997 through August 1998. Prior to working with Douglas M. Pine, Esq.,
Ms. Steinberg worked with the Law Offices of Eleanor Grosz in New York,
New York, and focused exclusively on family law matters of all types.
Ms. Steinberg began working with Douglas M. Pine, Esq. in 2010, and in
2016 they founded Pine & Steinberg, LLC. She has finalized thousands
of adoptions, including foster care adoptions, step-parent adoptions,
private placement adoptions, co-parent adoptions, and re-adoptions in
counties all across New Jersey. She is a member of the New Jersey State
Bar and the Family Law Section of the State Bar. Ms. Steinberg has completed
40 hours of mediation training, and she offers pro bono legal consultations
and family law workshops at the National Council for Jewish Women. Ms.
Steinberg graduated from Brandeis University in 1994, and from Cardozo
School of Law in 1997. She is admitted to practice law in New York and
New Jersey. She lives in Union County with her husband and children.
Jenifer R. DaCosta
Jenifer R. DaCosta joined Pine & Steinberg, LLC in the summer of 2009.
She graduated from Montclair State University receiving a Bachelor of
Arts with a paralegal certification. She has over eight years’ experience
as an adoption paralegal. Jenifer has handled an average of over 500 adoptions
a year since starting with the firm ranging from private placement adoptions
to agency adoptions. Jenifer has vast experience in researching adoption
law, staying up-to-date with changes to the laws and requirements. She
works directly with our clients, Surrogate Court staff, and, adoption
agency staff to make sure all aspects of the adoption process occur in
a timely manner to ensure a quick and efficient finalization. Jenifer
has future plans of obtaining her Juris Doctor.
